Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Santiago de Compostela since 2008. He develops his research work at the Singular Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Environmental Technologies (CRETUS) of the USC, on issues related to the sustainable development of processes and products (with special emphasis on the field of food), through the calculation of environmental footprints and the application of the principles of circular economy.
He has published more than 400 scientific and popular articles in international journals, supervised 28 doctoral theses and participated in more than 25 European research projects.
According to the Elsevier and Stanford University rankings, he is included in the top 2% of the world's most cited researchers in all disciplines. Throughout his scientific career he has carried out research stays in Chile, the USA, Israel and the Netherlands.
